Vulnerability
Being vulnerable like is being
Trapped on the side of that cliff
In Iceland, were the puffins seem all nice
At first, but then you realize they're not.
It's not because you're a bad person,
It's just because you insulted the puffins.
By taking the place where they lay their
With you're big, hairy body, it feels
Like a personal attack, because
They've been coming here for generations,
And because of the nature of figurative language,
You've only been here about a minute.
Now, the puffins don't actually give a crap about you.
They just want you out of their breeding grounds.
But you don't feel comfortable leaving, so
You decide to try to make friends with the puffins,
Try to relate to them and make them think that you're
Really not that different from them in the first place.
The puffins are like old, tired memories.
They keep coming back, keep making you feel like an outcast,
but you've made a life in their breeding grounds.
They can't get rid of you and you can't get rid of them.
You form a symbiotic circle, and you become
More comfortable with one another.
Soon, the puffins enter breeding season.
Some of them fly away to find a new place for themselves,
More fly away to make puffin babies, and soon you find that you're
Alone on a cliff without puffins or puffin offspring.
But it's not so bad, because you're more confident now.
You've overcome the puffins, and they're gone.
In fact, they're probably just on the next cliff over.
But it finally dawns on you, that you don't have anything to fear anymore.
You don't have any little monsters pulling out your hair,
Or biting your nails, or making you say things you shouldn't.
You, the stronger person, begin to climb out of the cliff.
You may gash your elbow, and you may scrape your knee,
But you made it out alive. And your ready to start your own
Journey through the hearts and minds of other who were just like you.
Somewhere in the faraway future, you'll visit the cliff that once held you down.
The puffins are back, but they seem more friendly than before.
They're the good, happy offspring. They're the happy memories that replace the
Old, tired, decrepit ones. You don't have anything to fear anymore.
Sweet is nostalgia here, for it warms the soul and inspires us to
walk the earth with passion for ourselves, and only by extension, others.

Duskillaz - XLarate
This video is one of my favorite videos on YouTube; I think it to be artistic and powerful and beautiful. This music is World Beyond (Short Version) by Temple One.
